Dear Mr. Barnes,
On behalf of the International Tibetan Media Organization (ITOM), I warmly congratulate you on your appointment as the U.S. Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues. We wish you every success in this important role and thank you for your commitment to advancing the rights and aspirations of the Tibetan people.
I am writing to express our profound gratitude for the recent funding legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by the President, which provides critical support for Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Asia (RFA). We sincerely hope for the prompt restoration and continued strengthening of their Tibetan-language broadcast services, which remain a vital source of information for Tibetans both inside Tibet and in the diaspora.
We recently sent a letter to The Honorable Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, and have enclosed a copy for your reference.
We look forward to your constructive leadership as Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues and to exploring how ITOM can best support the United States’ enduring commitment to the principles of freedom, human rights, and democracy.
Respectfully yours,
Palden Gyal
